Our story is set in Kabui, Afganistan in 1975. The main charactor, Amir the narator of the book, is looking back at his childhood and how it has had a profound effect on his life, before the russions invaded. Amir is a Pashton, high caste, Sunni Muslim who loves peotry and writing. Baba is his dad, who is also a Sunni muslim, Pashton, high caste who works as a succesful buisness man. Amir describes his father as a cold, hard man who is dissapointed in his son. Hassan, Amir’s best friend is a low caste Hazara and are Shi’a muslim he is also the son of the servent Ali. Amir is the leader and Hassan is the follower. Hassan is uneducated which disapoints is father, who wants him to like football. Rahim Khan is Baba’s best friend who is kind and shows the interest in Amir and hates writing. Farsi is the language of Afganistan and therr are numerous farsi and muslim words used in the novel.
